I really enjoy your website and your trips. I live in Eastern WA and really want to get over to the Westside and do some trips myself.

My brother-in-law got a Norsea27 last year.

great boat. there is a sad looking one at the des moines yacht club's (in WA state) boatyard. i look across the fence at this craft when in the area. such a great boat not to be well maintained and SAILED!

Now I'm looking for a M 17. They are hard to find. Where should I look ?

two prime locations -

the 'montgomery's for sail' site: http://msog.org/cfmods/M-boats4sail.cfm

also join the montgomery sailboat owners group (MSOG) listproc: http://msog.org/listserv.cfm

both Mboats i've owned were 'found' through the listproc.

be willing to travel to find a boat.

... was looking into a WW Potter 15 and wanted to get your thoughts?

fun little boat and cheap (as far as boats go). not a strong sailer with poor performance. the cabin is SMALL.

Dan Baltazor says...
I have no idea how to sail

DON'T buy a boat in order to learn to sail; or motivate yourself to sail. look in the local sailing mag - 48deg NORTH is puget sound focused and FREE (good place to find is in a west marine). find a sailing club with certified instructors. these groups have boats, sometimes many types, so you can 'try on diferent kinds for size'. you need to decide if you enjoy all that is involved before committing to boat ownership.

Hi Dave
I believe your a local here in the Seattle/Tacoma area...as for me too. I'm new to sailing and was looking into a WW Potter 15 and wanted to get your thoughts? It would be my first sailboat as I have no idea how to sail (only one time for an hour at Sand Point Sailing) but really want to learn and could use some advise.
Thanks for your time.

Hi Dave:

I love your site. But now I have a problem. I'm just have to get my own Monty. There does not seem to be any on craigslist. Hopefully I'll find one this off season.

Scred is for sale!

SCRED sold over two months ago ... she now resides in Friday Harbor, San Juan Is., WA.

John says...
Do you think my Mini Cooper would pull SCred? It pulls the Potter 15 ...

M15 + trailer weights in at between 1000 and 1200ish lbs. the M15 bare hull is 800 lbs. M15 as a lot more boat than the P15 in build and ballast. add sails, personal items, outboard, etc the boat is 900 to 1000ish.

Scred is for sale! I am ready to trade my P15 for an M15 - how much do you want and where are you? Do you think my Mini Cooper would pull SCred? It pulls the Potter 15 but just from the ramp to the dock - ;-)
